Minister Kasaija Receives Insurance Appeals Tribunal Annual Report for FY 2024/25
Minister of Finance Matia Kasaija received the Insurance Appeals Tribunal’s FY 2024/25 report, commending its progress in resolving insurance disputes and urging the Board to deepen sector knowledge for enhanced dispute management.

 

The Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Matia Kasaija, received the Insurance Appeals Tribunal Annual Report for the Financial Year 2024/25 at the Ministry of Finance headquarters in Kampala on Thursday.

The report was presented by the Board of the Insurance Appeals Tribunal, chaired by Rita Namakiika Nangono.

The Board, appointed by the Minister under Section 136 of the Insurance Act, is tasked with promoting transparency, accountability, and confidentiality in the insurance sector through the resolution of disputes.

While receiving the report, Kasaija commended the Tribunal for the progress made during the period under review.

“I reviewed your annual report and noted progress during the period under review. Keep it up,” he said.

He further encouraged Board members to deepen their understanding of the insurance sector to more effectively execute their mandate, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning and sectoral study to enhance their capacity in handling insurance-related disputes.

The meeting was also attended by the Minister of State for Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Henry Musasizi.

Kasaija pledged to address challenges facing the Insurance Appeals Tribunal in executing its mandate, reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to supporting institutions that strengthen governance, accountability, and dispute resolution within the insurance sector.

The Insurance Appeals Tribunal plays a critical role in ensuring fairness and integrity in the insurance industry by providing an avenue for resolving disputes transparently and confidentially.
